The science of learning exists and in this session we will analyze cognitive science research that translates into meaningful and applicable tools you can use in your classroom! We will exemplify evidence-based strategies that can be easily implemented in less than a minute to free the power of his teaching!
The introduction of the topic begins by defining cognition and learning, critical concepts to understand the nature of this presentation. Then, supported by evidence from cognitive psychology over the past few decades, five strategies for effective learning will be described: retrieval practice, spacing, interleaving, dual coding, and feedback-driven metacognition. These strategies teach learning principles and provide educators with guiding principles for developing lesson plans, programs, and assessments. For each strategy, we explain the definition, how to do it, some points to consider and where to find more information.
